Santa Monica Apartment of Whitey Bulger Up for Rent: Report

Notorious Boston mob boss was arrested in 2011 living in two-bedroom, two-bath Westside building

The Santa Monica hideout of infamous Boston mobster James “Whitey” Bulger has hit the rental market, asking more than double what the former fugitive paid for it, according to multiple reports.

Bulger was convicted in 2013 of 11 murders, conspiracy and racketeering during his time as a reputed New England mob boss.

He was found living in the Westside building in 2011, after 16 years on the lam with long-time girlfriend Catherine Greig.

When authorities raided Apartment 303 of the Princess Eugenia apartments, they found $800,000 in cash, more than 30 guns and fake IDs hidden in the residence. Bulger was 81 years old at the time of his arrest.

Bulger and Grieg were on rent control, paying $1,145 for the 1,100-square-foot apartment.

The owners are now asking $2,972 a month, according to CurbedLA.

The building is near the Third Street Promenade, which Bulger reportedly strolled frequently.
