Sausage Fest 2017: Santa Monica Sizzle

Several excellent area chefs and brewhouse pros'll converge at FIG Restaurant for a meaty Sunday feast.

HANKERINGS, in general, are pretty predictable in how they roll out and, more specifically, when. When you're tired you may crave cranberry juice and almond butter, or absolutely no almond butter but rather a spoonful of strawberry jam. When you're hot you may want to eat a lemon in its entirety. And when you're feeling celebratory? Only a pizza with double the pineapple will do. Times of the year, and specific months, can also stoke our gustatory yearnings, and the edibles we want to nosh around the middle of May aren't the same as what we crave when autumn reaches its peak autumn-o-sity. If you find daydreams of heartier foodstuffs stuck in your noggin come November, and if savory supping begins to truly tempt, best put your sniffer in the air and follow the deep aroma straight to Santa Monica on Sunday, Nov. 12 when...

SAUSAGE FEST... turns up the grills, and stokes the appetites of attendees, at FIG Restaurant at Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows. The afternoon-long affair — it's on from 1 to 5 p.m. — will include "...LA's favorite chefs and breweries" as well as "...artisanal beers, brats, live music, and more!" The Georgina Jones Grüner Veltliner, FIG Restaurant's new house white varietal wine, will also make its grand introduction (Georgina, the wife of Santa Monica's founder, once resided at the Miramar). A ticket for all of this savory, sudsy, and spectacular sausage-ry on a Santa Monica weekend afternoon? It's fifty bucks, and that covers all you can eat (and, yes, sip, too). As for the brats and beers and who'll be showing to present both? Chefs and breweries are listed here, as well as a way for you to snag your passage to sausage goodness, if that's the direction your early-November hankering is advising.
