School Leaders Replaced in Wake of Moreno Valley Boy's Bullying Death

A Southern California school district has replaced administrators at a middle school where a boy died after being assaulted by two other students.

The Press-Enterprise reports Thursday that the Moreno Valley Unified School District is replacing Principal Scott Walker and Assistant Principal Kamilah O'Connor at Landmark Middle School.

The new principal, Rafael Garcia, was the district's coordinator for child welfare and attendance.

The announcement was made at a school board meeting on Tuesday, a day after the family of 13-year-old Diego Stolz filed a legal claim against the district 65 miles (105 kilometers) east of Los Angeles.

The claim says Stolz complained to an administrator that he was being bullied before the assault that killed him in September. Two boys have been charged with manslaughter in connection with his death.
