A man was in a coma Wednesday after being struck by a motorist who drove off.
Edras Velasquez is in grave condition with bleeding on the brain.
The hit and run happened Tuesday night in Silver Lake when Velasquez and a passenger on a scooter were rear-ended by a silver BMW as they headed south on Glendale Boulevard, near Waverly Drive, police said.
Surveillance video shows the BMW turning the corner onto Rowena Avenue, moments after impact.
"In the BMW, there was also a female passenger," said Los Angeles Police Department Detective Moses Castillo. "So that tells us there are at least two different individuals that knew about this horrible incident."
Castillo said the driver not only didn't stop, but also threw the car into reverse, in order to dislodge the ruined scooter.

The victim's son, Jonathan Velasquez, said the driver should go to jail.
"This is not justice," he said.
