Sex Offender Ban Considered

Huntington Beach will vote tonight

Huntington Beach will consider a proposal Monday night that would ban sex offenders from public parks, beaches and other places children gather.

Orange County supervisors have already passed a similar measure. It requires registered sex offenders to get written permission from the sheriff's department before visiting county recreational areas.

The law applies to parks and places like the Orange County Zoo and Newport Harbor.

The city of Irvine is also considering the move.

Critics of the law said it could be politically motivated and tough to enforce.
