Sheared Fire Hydrant Causes Road Closure in Canoga Park

A sheared fire hydrant is gushing water and causing a street closure in Canoga Park early Monday.

Topanga Canyon Boulevard was closed at Vanowen Street to the north and Kittridge Street to the south.

The closures were put in place after authorities responded around 7 a.m. to a single-vehicle crash near 22000 Vanowen Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The vehicle struck a fire hydrant and drove into a wash. The driver suffered only minor injuries.

Los Angeles police officers were on scene to assist with road closures. It was unknown how long the closures would be in effect.
