Shooting Outside La Puente High School Forces Lockdown

The lockdown was lifted within 30 minutes of the shooting, which left two men wounded

Two men were struck by gunfire that forced the 30-minute lockdown of a La Puente high school Monday morning.

The pair was found suffering from gunshot wounds in a black Honda Civic, near Northman and Nogales streets, on the southeastern side of Nogales High School, a watch commander at the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Industry Station said.

One victim was taken to the hospital. It appeared the other was being treated on scene. Their conditions were not immediately known.

Students at nearby Nogales High School were locked down for some 30 minutes while authorities investigated the gunfire, which was first reported about 10 a.m.

Police are searching for a heavy set Hispanic man traveling in a brown Cadillac related to the shooting.
