Man Shot in Head Outside South El Monte Gas Station

A man was in grave condition Monday after he was shot in the head outside a South El Monte gas station, authorities said.

The shooting was reported at 1:46 a.m. at the Shell gas station at Peck Road and Durfee Avenue, Lt. Rob Hahnlein of the Temple Sheriff's Station said. The shooting was in the gas station parking lot.

It appeared that several witnesses were at the scene.

A detailed description of the shooter was not immediately available.
