“He's Going to Run Me Over”: Silver Lake Scuffle Captured on Video

A Silver Lake man who recorded video as he was allegedly taken to the ground and put in a chokehold by a construction worker said he plans to file criminal charges.

Jerome Courshon has been filming alleged violations of state and local laws by workers at a development site at 2755 Waverly Terrace for several months.

He claims that workers have been illegally starting construction before 7 a.m. and failing to mitigate harmful dust and dirt particles.

But in a video posted to Facebook on Thursday morning, Courshon’s filming of a pickup’s license plate turned violent after a worker drove his truck toward him.

“He’s going to run me over,” Courshon can be heard yelling in the video.

It is unclear from the video which company the worker is associated with.

A project foreman with Klewin Construction, Inc., which is working on the project, said he was not allowed to comment and referred calls to the company's public relations department. A call placed there was not returned.

In the video the worker can be seen getting out of the truck before the camera appears to fall. An expletive-filled altercation follows.

In an interview with NBC4, Courshon said the worker took exception when he put his hands on the truck.

“I tapped his car with my hand,” Courshon said. “I was pissed off. Honestly, I shouldn’t have done that.”

What followed, according to Courshon, was that he was taken down and choked by the worker. Courshon can be heard yelling for the worker to get off him.

Officers responded about 20 minutes after the altercation. Both Courshon and the worker were interviewed by police. The police report describes the incident as battery.

Courshon said officers discouraged him from filing charges, saying that the worker could do the same and then they would both be taken to jail.

Photos sent to NBC4 showed that Courshon had abrasions to his neck, elbow and cheek. A day later, Courshon said he still intends on taking action.

“I’m going to do my best to see that charges are filed against this guy,” Courshon said. “It’s just unacceptable.”
