Snow Valley Enjoys Fresh February Flakeage

The Running Springs slopes spot saw three inches on Valentine's Eve.

FINDING THAT WINTER HAS ARRIVED... just days ahead of Valentine's? It's a bit of a shock, really. And, true, we're exaggerating, just a bit, but given this warmer winter, it can be a bit of a surprise to find the sorts of crisper breezes and nighttime temperature drops that we expected in early January just a month or so out from spring's official start. Still, many a mountain fan, from Tahoe to Mammoth to the peaks of Southern California, are glad that more flakes have arrived, and the sort of bundle-up weather those flakes require. And all before a three-day holiday weekend, too. If you're pondering a visit to Running Springs on Valentine's Day or over Presidents Day Weekend, consider that the not-too-far-from-LA destination just received...

THREE INCHES... on Valentine's Eve. That's in addition to "an amazing night of snowmaking," so count on the Snow Valley Mountain Resort slope scene to be in the full and frosty swing (and, yes, the sledding scene, too). As of Feb. 13, you'll need chains, due note, unless you're driving a 4-wheel-drive vehicle with snow tires (and that's all four tires, yep). And if you've been wanting to go with a new-to-skiing pal, try the "Bring a Friend Challenge," which could mean a gratis Monday-through-Friday lift ticket for you. Details on the beginner ski or board lessons they'll need to take and such? Here. All the latest photographs of how the mountain is looking with its fresh coat of wintery cold-a-tude? Those are on the site, too. Finding that winter seems to have shown up, a bit late but in lovely form? It's a delight, so get out there and ride, for springtime is on its way.
