A 67-year-old man was killed inside his home late Sunday in South Los Angeles and authorities are searching for the attacker.

A woman told detectives she arrived at the home in the 1100 block of West 98th Street (map), just west of Vermont Avenue, Sunday night and found her tenant dead on the floor. The preliminary investigation indicated the man might have been strangled, detectives said.

The house appeared to have been ransacked, according to deputies. The victim, found in a back bedroom, might have been in a fight with the attacker.

The victim died at the scene.

A woman who identified herself as the victim's granddaughter told NBC4 he moved into the apartment a few weeks ago.
