Stabbing Death Suspect Arrested in San Francisco

A 54-year-old suspect in the January stabbing death of a man in a Southern California motel room was arrested Saturday in San Francisco, officials said.

Oscar Bridges was arrested in the death of 21-year-old Robert Brewer, of Texas, at a motel in the 10400 block of South Vermont Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Los Angeles police said Bridges is a registered sex offender and befriended young boys and men. It's still unclear how Brewer and Bridges met, said LAPD Lt. Holly Francisco.

Investigators and other Sheriff’s personnel launched a large scale search for Bridges in the Hollywood Hills area on Tuesday. Searchers spread out across motels and businesses near Griffith Park, the Greek Theater and Runyon Canyon Park.

Authorities tracked down Bridges after receiving a tip that he had ties to San Francisco. Bridges was arrested by San Francisco police and taken to the Norwalk Sheriff’s station.
