With a pink collar and an insatiable appetite for cheesy chips, Yoda, a Chihuahua mix that lives in Burbank with her owners, stars in a commercial that may run during the Super Bowl as part of Doritos’ seventh annual ad contest.
"She is the sweetest thing!" commercial co-director Heather Kasprzak told NBC4 in an email, referring to the dog, who is more mischievous on screen.
The 30-second spot (embedded below) features a frustrated toddler whose puppy can’t get enough of her Doritos, but eventually finds a way to savor the chips by herself.
"Road Chip" is one of five finalists vying for coveted commercial time during the Super Bowl. Two of those finalists will air, one chosen by voters and the other picked by the Doritos brand team.
As finalists, the makers of "Road Chip" have already won $25,000 and a trip to New Orleans for a private Super Bowl XLVII party hosted by Doritos.
Whichever finalist scores highest on the USA TODAY AD METER will win a chance to work with film director/producer Michael Bay on the next Transformers movie, according to Doritos officials.
The movie-makers behind the most popular video will also snag $1 million. That's a lot of dog treats.
