A suspect was fatally wounded Wednesday in an officer- involved shooting in Gardena.
The shooting occurred just before 2:30 p.m. in the 13200 block of Van Ness Avenue, after officers responded to a shooting call in the area of Van Ness and El Segundo Boulevard, according to Gardena police.
The wounded man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which was assisting Gardena police in the shooting investigation.
No officers or civilians were injured.
The public was advised to avoid Van Ness Avenue between El Segundo Boulevard and 135th Street.
