Suspected Road Rage Crash Shuts Down Antelope Valley Freeway

A collision that possibly involved a case of road rage with shots fired was under investigation Friday night in the Newhall Pass area.

The collision was reported about 8:10 p.m. on the southbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway just north of the Golden State (5) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The transition road from the southbound Antelope Valley Freeway to the southbound Golden State Freeway was shut down and a report from the scene showed two people face down in freeway lanes with deputies and officers standing nearby.

A third person was also detained, according to officials at the sheriff's Santa Clarita Valley Station. Shots were "allegedly fired between parties of the two vehicles" near Newhall Avenue and Sierra Highway, the sheriff's department tweeted.
