This Again? Gas Prices Rise for Eighth Straight Day

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Tuesday for the eighth consecutive day, increasing seven-tenths of a cent to $2.228.

The average price has risen 9.8 cents over the past eight days, according to figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.

The Orange County average price also rose for the eighth consecutive day, increasing two-tenths of a cent to $2.222 -- 10.7 cents above when the increases began.

A key reason for the increases is the state requirement that stations must only sell summer blend gasoline, which is more expensive to produce, beginning Wednesday, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
