Three Students Arrested After High School Brawl

Three students were arrested Tuesday after a brawl broke out at Hawthorne High School, leaving a student, a staff member and a police officer among the injured.

More arrests could be coming, officials said.

Disturbing video showed that one fight during lunch time set off a domino of others, with others caught in the mayhem.

NBC4 has blurred the videos because most of the students are minors.

"I asked the security guard and they said it was about 30 fights today," said student Nicole Gallardo.

Gallardo said she's shocked, but more disappointed, at what some students described as a schoolwide brawl.

"From what I saw, I just found it really immature. It was just fight after fight all for dumb reasons," she said.

Some students said the initial fight appeared to be racially motivated, and then just snowballed out of control.

"I think once people saw one person fighting, any beef they had with anyone, this is my time to take it out," said one student, who did not want to be identified.

Parents also said they’re saddened by what happened.

"It's kind of concerning knowing that many kids, in school, something so simple, instead of coming together they're fighting each other," said Tatiana Rodriguez.

There has been no response from the Centinela Valley Union High School District.

Police also said they have not yet reviewed the cellphone video.

The three students who were arrested were released back to their parents, and have been charged with assaulting a peace officer.
