Tires Slashed on Nearly 100 Vehicles in Jefferson Park Area; Woman Arrested

Security camera video captured a woman slashing the tires on a row of vehicles

A woman was in custody Wednesday on suspicion of slashing tires on nearly 100 parked vehicles in a Jefferson Park neighborhood overnight, police said.

The vandalism was reported at various locations on or near the 3300 block of Montclair Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police initially estimated that tires on 85 vehicles had been slashed.

By mid-day, the count was at 96 vehicles and could still go higher, police said.

"Mine's messed up and other neighbors' and on down the street," said Brenda Sadler. "It's just sad that we have to go through this. Can't even park our cars on the street."

The vehicles were parked on streets in front of residences, police said.

A 29-year-old woman was booked on suspicion of felony vandalism, the LAPD reported. Police said she appears to be homeless.

Bond was set at $21,000.
