One Lane Open on Topanga Canyon

One lane on Topanga Canyon Boulevard was opened after the roadway was shut down on and off over the last week from a mudslide and most recently a crash, authorities said.

Only one lane near Pacific Coast Highway was closed until 6 p.m., according to the CHP.

The crash was reported just after 1 a.m. on Topanga Canyon Boulevard about 1 1/2 miles north of PCH, California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball said. A vehicle struck a utility pole.

No one from the crash required transport to a hospital, Kimball said. But a SigAlert was issued at 1:47 a.m. shutting down Topanga Canyon Boulevard between PCH and Grand View Drive because live power lines were down in the roadway.

Officers at the scene estimated the closure could remain in effect until 2 p.m. while repairs are made but indicated that timetable could be reduced in length, he said.

Topanga Canyon Boulevard was shut down Thursday through Saturday while Caltrans crews removed 2,500 tons of dirt in 180 truck loads from a rain-induced mudslide.
