Woman Struck With Fire Extinguisher in Home Invasion Attack

A woman said she was struck in the head by a fire extinguisher during an attack by an intruder in her west San Fernando Valley home.

NBC4 spoke with the victim, who suffered scratches and a concussion in the Oct 10 attack in Chatsworth. She identified the attacker as a homeless man who she encountered several times at a nearly 7-Eleven.

After hearing a noise in her home, April Emard awoke to find the man find inside the residence.

"He just literally rushed me, knocked over a bunch of chairs," said April Emard.

LAPD arrest records show a 26-year-old man was arrested Oct. 11, but later released, in connection with the home invasion. It was not immediately clear why he was released.
