Driver, Passenger Killed In Long Beach Shooting

Long Beach police are looking for a suspect who shot and killed a man and a woman in a gang-related attack, authorities said Sunday.

Officers responded at 5:45 p.m. Saturday to 17th Street and Alamitos Avenue where they found a man and woman in a vehicle who had been struck by gunfire, according to Lt. Yat Abram of the Long Beach Police Department.

"When officers arrived, they located a vehicle stopped in the middle of the street, and the driver and front passenger had sustained gunshot wounds to their upper torso,'' police said.

The front seat passenger, Sandra Coleman, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Don Sims, 55, was taken to a hospital where he later was also pronounced dead, Abram said.

The shooting is being investigated as gang-related, police said.
