Say Watt? Iconic Ugly Duckling Sign Returns to Las Vegas Neon Museum After Restoration

The neon duckling became a well-known landmark to motorists passing by on Nevada State Route 582 in the '90s.

The iconic Ugly Duckling Car Sales sign makes an electrifying return to Las Vegas's famed Neon Museum after 136 hours of restoration and refurbishment.

The double-sided sign, originally located on East Fremont Street, became a well-known landmark to motorists passing by on Nevada State Route 582 since the 1990s.

The Ugly Duckling has been part of the outdoor exhibition the Neon Boneyard since the museum's grand opening in October 2012, but was taken down for repairs in March.

Four 50-pound cases, totaling about 800 linear feet of glass, were ordered to replace the total amount of neon needed for the sign, according to the Vox Agency.

Now, the neon Ugly Duckling is back, and is located at the Boneyard's entrance, next to the La Concha motel sign, for ecstatic museumgoers to enjoy during regular hours.

The Neon Museum, founded in 1996, collects, preserves, and exhibits iconic Las Vegas signs for educational and historical enrichment.

The museum is located at 770 Las Vegas Blvd. North in Las Vegas. For more information, visit neonmuseum.org.
