60-Year-Old Man Arrested for Fatal Hit-and-Run in Van Nuys

Two LAPD officers arrived on scene before paramedics, and CPR was administered, but the hit-and-run victim died at the scene.

A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a homeless man, who was not in the crosswalk, near a busy intersection in Van Nuys Friday night per the LAPD.

The watch commander at the LAPD's Valley Traffic Division told NBC4 that a witness to the crash followed the driver to a nearby motel and called police. Sixty-year-old Kenneth Korevaar of Sherman Oaks was arrested for felony hit-and-run and misdemeanor DUI.

The crash occurred shortly after 9:40 p.m. on Friday night near the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Wyandotte Street.

The coroner is still waiting to notify the victim's family, but witnesses described the victim as a man in his 50s.
