Vandalism, Assaults at West Covina Car Meet Investigated

Police Thursday were investigating assaults against two mall security guards and acts of vandalism at a West Covina mall where car enthusiasts had gathered to pay tribute to the late "The Fast and the Furious" actor Paul Walker.

The meet-up took place about 11 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of West Covina Plaza, located at 1111 Plaza Drive, according to West Covina police.

Video posted to social media showed participants vandalizing a mall security vehicle and punching two mall security officers, West Covina police Lt. Travis Tibbetts said. Walker died in a fiery car crash in Santa Clarita in 2013.

Anyone with information about the assaults and vandalism or the identities of the suspects was urged to call police at (626) 939-8688.
