Firefighters Contain Fullerton Brush Fire; Evacuations Lifted

A brush fire that forced the evacuation of a park in Fullerton was fully contained by Saturday night, fire officials said.

The Fullerton Fire Department responded to the blaze in the Brea Dam area. The fire was burning near homes, but no structures were damaged, according to an FFD spokesman.

The Fullerton Sports Complex was evacuated as firefighters took position at nearby homes to prevent the flames from reaching the houses.

Evacuations were lifted as crews got a handle on the 12-acre fire about 6 p.m.

The Orange County Fire Authority sent two helicopters to assist with the fire, according to a tweet from the agency.
