Weekend: LA Food Fest

Nosh on everything from tacos to ice cream, at Exposition Park.

LA Food Fest: It's two days — July 9 and 10 — and it is landing at the expansive, room-to-roam-and-nosh Exposition Park. What eateries will show? Fritzi Dog, Chomp Eatery, Hello Sweetie Pies, Gracias Madre, and many more. And if you like to be choosy about how you chow down, check it out: A trio of ways in are now at the heart of this summery favorite, including tasting, a la carte, and a chef series. Happy year numero 7 to one of the bite-filled biggies of Southern California.

Outfest: When one is faced with 162 films, movies that will roll out over a week plus three days, how does one begin to determine what docs, features, and shorts to see? It's a nice challenge, but this acclaimed LGBT film festival makes the movie selection a pleasure. Clea DuVall's "The Interpretation" is the festival opener, and a quartet of LA locales, including the recently reopened Ford Theatres, are on board.

Salsa Festival: Do you prefer a chip-dippable bowl that's like 90% cilantro, or do you go for more of a tomato-onion-garlic thing? You can actually love both, in the same day, for there's no wrong way to approach salsa (and about a million right ways). Join the two-day party at Pershing Square and dip that chip into a whole line-up of brightly flavored, nicely piquant picos, salsas, and dips. July 9 and 10

Pups at the Park: Does your Labrador, or Poodle, or Pekingese, or Boston Terrier wear her blue during every game, home or away? Best take your bestie by Dodger Stadium on July 9 for a special day devoted to dogs. There's an on-the-field parade before the Dodgers-Padres showdown, and some other canine-cute happenings afoot. A rescue org is the day's beneficiary, but note that you'll need your hound's vaccination records to join. Further details? Right here.

Renegade Craft Fair: Can the near-middle of July be called high summer? Let's say so, for the sake of ease, because it is warm out and ease is pleasant to ponder. This indie maker spectacular, which will spread out over a goodly chunk of Grand Park on July 9 and 10, is a reminder that the holidays are now a half year away, and birthdays? Those are always close. Better yet, stop by, by something beautiful and useful for yourself, and meet the person who made it.
