South LA Church Sings in Memory of Whitney Houston

Sounds of gospel music dedicated to the memory of Whitney Houston at a South LA church

Choir members at Second Baptist Church celebrated the life of Whitney Houston Sunday with a tribute during a church service, one of many remembrances for the pop superstar who died Saturday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Second Baptist choir member Vickilyn Reynolds was a teenager when she met Houston and heard her unforgettable voice.

"Her voice was just immaculate," Reynolds said. "It was just astounding. You could hear it from another room, and you would have to run to see from whom that voice is coming from."

Mourners also placed flowers, candles and other items outside the hotel where Houston's lifeless body was found.

Fans of Houston, 48, are expected to gather in Leimert Park Monday night for a candlelight vigil to remember the singer, whose body was found Saturday in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The vigil is expected to begin at 5 p.m. The event is planned for the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Vernon Avenue.

An autopsy was conducted Sunday, but no details were released because of a security hold requested by the Beverly Hills Police Department.  Toxicology reports are pending.

"I know there are reports that she drowned or that she overdosed, but we won't make a final determination until all the requests are in," said Ed Winter, assistant chief coroner. "We're looking at all aspects of the case. Hopefully, maybe, by Wednesday or Thursday this next week I can give you another update, but there won't be anything else this evening or probably tomorrow or the next day."

Security holds, regularly request in high-profile cases, give law enforcement agencies more time to investigate such cases.
