Crews Contain Wildfire Near Homes in Arrowhead Springs Area

Firefighters launched an aggressive air attack on a wildfire that came close to homes in the Arrowhead Springs area late Sunday afternoon.

The roughly 15-acre blaze was reported about 3 p.m. near the south end of Waterman Canyon, San Bernardino National Forest officials said. The fire was fully contained by Sunday night.

Aerial footage captured by NewsChopper4 showed a water-dropping helicopter attacking flames near a home's backyard as residents looked on.

Highway 18 was open to traffic Sunday night after being shut down between 40th Street and Highway 138 due to the fire.

More than 200 firefighters back by, three helicopters, two air tankers and an air attack plane were called in to battle the flames.
