Three days after hurricane-force winds tore through Southern California, the weather was cool, but the air was mostly still early Saturday until night fell and the gusts picked back up.
The quiet morning provided some relief to residents as well as work crews struggling to restore power to the 120,000 homes and businesses that were still without electricity as the weekend began.
Nearly 85,000 customers were still without electricity Saturday evening, according to figures from Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and Southern California Edison.
The winds will return and stay through the night, ranging from 36 mph in Van Nuys up to 57 mph in Freemont Canyon.
That's nowhere near as high as the 100 mph gusts that knocked over trees and power lines Wednesday and Thursday, but the strong breezes could make cleanup efforts uncomfortable, and put a crimp on some outdoor activities.
Temperatures on Saturday were expected to stay low, rising at most to the low 60s. Overnight lows will drop to 26 degrees in the high desert, 45 degrees in Santa Monica and 39 degrees in the San Fernando Valley.
