Woman Pleads for Return of Mother's Stolen Ashes

Vanessa Llanas lost her mother to Lupus in 2011

A Hesperia woman is begging for the person who ransacked her home while she was out of town to return the urn containing her mother's ashes.

Vanessa Llanas left her home for two weeks to attend a family member's wedding and returned to a home that had been robbed. She realized the urn with her mother's ashes was missing.

"It's disturbing and it's just really hurting for my family and I," Llanas said. "I hadn't had this feeling in a while."

The thieves came in through a bedroom window and completely ransacked the apartment, taking electronics and other valuables.

She had her mother's ashes in a dark blue box and stored it in her room. Llanas said a cross and flowers from her ceremony accompanied the urn.

Llanas' mother Yolanda Molina Bedoy died at age 50 in 2011 of Lupus, she said.

Now, Llanas doesn't need an explanation. She just wants the urn back.

"Just drop her off in front of the porch," Llanas said. "No questions asked."
