Woman in Wheelchair Rescued From Burning El Sereno Home

A woman in a wheelchair was injured Saturday when an 800 sq. ft. home to the rear of on an El Sereno property caught fire along with items stored outside, authorities said.

It was reported at 6:34 p.m. at 4502 Lowell Ave., Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.

It took 34 firefighters 35 minutes to put out the flames, Humphrey said. There was an excessive number of items in storage outside the home, he said.

The woman, believed to be in her 60s, suffered minor to moderate facial burns and possible other injuries, Humphrey said. Her condition was undetermined.

Officials were trying to determine whether the woman was rescued by neighbors or passersby, he said.
