Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Mid-City

A woman was killed early Tuesday in a hit-and-run crash as she was crossing a street in Mid-City, according to the Los Angeles Police Department West Traffic Division.

The crash occurred before dawn in the area of Crenshaw and Washington boulevards, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The woman died at the scene.

Witnesses have told police they saw the woman kneel in the street before the car fatally struck her.

"She had to have at least heard the car beign down that low. She didn't turn around or appear frightened or anything," witness Marinella Baldwin said. "She just stayed there."

Investigators have been receiving inconsistent reports on the vehicle description and they said nearby surveillance footage has not been helpful.
