Woman Lied About Being Sexually Assaulted by Burglars: Deputies

A woman called deputies saying she was assaulted by two men during a break in at her home in Moorpark in April

A woman who claimed she was sexually assaulted during a break in in Moorpark in April made the story up, authorities said Tuesday.

A woman told deputies she was sexually assaulted on April 16 at her home in the 4700 block of Elderberry Avenue.

She had called 911 reporting she returned home and interrupted a burglary in progress.

The two unknown suspects held her against her will and sexually assaulted her, she said at the time.

During the investigation, several discrepancies were noted between the victim's statement and evidence.

Investigators re-contacted the victim several times about the case until she admitted to making up the story.

She attributed her actions to difficulties she was experiencing in her personal life, deputies said in a press release.
