What to Know About the Wildfires: Evacuations Map, Road Closures

The Hill and Woolsey fires are burning in parts of Ventura and Los Angeles counties

The Woolsey and Hill Fires in Ventura and Los Angeles counties have forced evacuations as they threaten homes in the area.

About the Woolsey Fire

  • Acreage: 96,949
  • Containment: 98 percent
  • Structures Destroyed: 1,643 

All Remaining Mandatory Evacuations

Ventura County

  • La Jolla Beach at Pacific Coast Highway (HWY 1)
  • Sycamore Canyon Road at Pacific Coast Highway (HWY 1)
  • Yerba Buena Road between Ellice Street & Mipolomol Road (Intermittent closure)
  • Yerba Buena Road / Little Sycamore Canyon Road at Ventura / LA County Line
  • Pacific Coast Highway (HWY 1) at Ventura / LA County Line

Los Angeles County

  • Malibu: All areas north of the Malibu City limits, south of the Interstate 101 Freeway, east of Malibu Canyon Road, west of Los Angeles City limits allowed home Friday morning. By 2 p.m., full opening of Civic Center area, including from the ocean (south), Malibu City limit (north), east of Corral Canyon Road (west), 5700 Block of Pacific Coast Highway, Serra Road (east).
    NOTE:On Saturday, the following areas of the Malibu Colony Cove neighborhood were opened:
    -From the ocean (south)
    -Malibu city limit (north)
    -Puerco Canyon Road (east)
    -Paradise Cove Road (west)
  • Malibou Lake: Entire community
  • No access will be available to neighborhoods south of Mulholland Highway and the Civic Center.

Road Closures

LA County

  • Hwy 1 southbound (P.C.H.) closed at LA County line to Puerco Canyon Rd.
  • Puerco Canyon Rd. at the Malibu City limit.
  • Las Posas Rd. to LA County line is residents only, no Northbound traffic from PCH.
  • Westlake Blvd. is closed Southbound from Potrero Rd.
  • On Mulholland at Country Ranch, blocking traffic South of Country Ranch.
  • S. Las Virgenes from Mulholland
  • S. Kanan at Malibu View Dr.
  • Just North of Kanan at Triunfo Canyon, blocking access to Kanan Rd.
  • Just North of Kanan at Hidden Highland, blocking access to Kanan Rd.
  • W. Mulholland from Cornell Rd.
  • Everything is closed South of Mulholland Hwy & West of Malibu Canyon to Malibu City limits.

School Closures 

  • All Malibu schools will remain closed through Friday
  • Las Virgenes, Oak Park, Conejo Valley, Moorpark College closed Tuesday
  • Las Virgenes Unified School District closed until after Thanksgiving
  • Oxnard College and Ventura College are open and resume normal campus and class schedules on Tuesday, November 13
  • Topanga Elementary Charter School will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
  • All Las Virgenes Unified School District schools will be closed through the Thanksgiving holiday
  • MATES Charter School in Thousand Oaks will remain closed through Thanksgiving.
  • Dean Triggs School in Thousand Oaks will remain closed through Thanksgiving.
  • All Oak Park schools will remain closed through Thanksgiving.
  • All Conejo Valley Unified School District schools will remain closed through Thanksgiving
  • Oxnard College and Ventura College resume normal campus and class schedules on Tuesday. The District Administrative Center will be open.
  • California State University Channel Islands will resume on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
  • Cal Lutheran University (except for emergency personnel)
  • Moorpark Community College
  • Pepperdine University (Malibu and Calabasas campuses)

Disaster Assistance Centers

In partnership with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, there will be two Disaster Assistance Centers in Agoura Hills and Malibu beginning Saturday, Nov. 17.

U.S. Postal Service Note:

The United States Postal Service is recommending victims of recent wildfires across Southern California to submit a Change of Address or Temporary Hold Mail request to assist customers regarding their mail delivery. A Temporary Change of Address is designed for customers that plan to return to their original address within six months. The COA requests can be filed at USPS.com
Hold Mail service, meanwhile, is designed for customers who plan on returning home within 30 days. For more information, check here.
