Young Danville Man Killed in Long Beach

A 21-year-old Danville resident was fatally shot in Long Beach in  Southern California on Thursday, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

The coroner's office identified the victim as Scott Brandon Miller-Dowd. He died from multiple gunshot wounds.

The San Jose Mercury News sayd Miller-Dowd graduated from San Ramon Valley High School in 2007.

Police received calls from residents who reported hearing gunshots at about 9:50 p.m. in the 4500 block of Orange Avenue, a mainly residential neighborhood, Long Beach police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said.

Police found Miller-Dowd shot in the street, according to the coroner's office.

He was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.

Homicide investigators were following up on leads, but had little to go on, police said.
