Actor James Farentino spent the night in jail and was released Monday on bail after a citizen's arrest at the 72-year-old actor's Hollywood home.
Farentino was booked on suspicion of battery at the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station about 8:30 p.m. Sunday and released on $20,000 bail about 6:15 this morning, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Hollywood on July 8, the sheriff's department reported.
Farentino's movie credits include "The Final Countdown," "Dead & Buried" and "Bulletproof." He had a recurring role on the television show "Dynasty" in the early 1980s.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Farentino tried to physically remove a man from his house in the 1300 block of Londonderry Place. The man, who police said suffered bruising that was visible to officers, made a citizen's arrest on Farentino for battery, The Times reported.
