A Lot Can Go Wrong: Free New Survivor Guide Released

What a real survivor needs to know in Los Angeles

A comprehensive guide in English and Spanish for emergency preparedness designed to help people prepare for and recover from disasters was available for the first time Wednesday at Los Angeles County's website, www.lacounty.gov.

The guide published by the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management is available under ``Hot Topics in LA County."

Finding the guide on the website is a little tricky.   Stay on the home page and gently scroll down keeping an eye on the right hand side column.  Eventually you will find a header slugged "Hot Topics in LA County".   From there move down about five lines to "Emergency Survival Guide."

The guide contains 100 pages of tips and information about preparing for fires, floods, earthquakes, pandemic flu, terrorism, extreme weather and tsunamis.

The guide features checklists for gathering emergency supplies intended to help individuals, families, pet owners, businesses and communities survive and recover from a major disaster.
