The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County recorded its largest increase since July 2 on Friday, rising 1.6 cents to $3.589 after dropping 26 of the previous 29 days.
A run of 26 decreases in 27 days through Tuesday totaling 13.7 cents dropped the average price to its lowest amount since March 25, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It then rose two-tenths of a cent Wednesday and three-tenths of a cent Thursday.
The average price is 1.4 cents more than one week ago but 11.1 cents less than one month ago and 5.5 cents lower than one year ago. It has risen 19.7 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price also recorded its largest increase since July 2, rising 1.9 cents to $3.568. It had dropped 26 times in 28 days through Monday, decreasing 12.9 cents to its lowest amount since March 26. It then rose four-tenths of a cent on Tuesday and was unchanged on both Wednesday and Thursday.
The Orange County average price is 2 cents more than one week ago but 10.5 cents less than one month ago and 2.3 cents lower than one year ago. It has risen 21.9 cents since the start of the year.
