Azusa Police Shoot at Drunk Driving Suspect

Azusa Police Officers Fired on an Allegedly Drunk Driver Wednesday who Crashed his Car into at Least Three Condominiums

Azusa police officers arrived on the scene of the crash in the 1200 block of Pine Needles Court about 3:40 p.m Wednesday, the LA Times reported.

There they found an allegedly drunk driver who crashed his car into at least three condominiums.

The driver was still in the vehicle.

Police Lt. Frank Chavez said that the officers perceived some type of threat from him that provoked them to fire several rounds, the LA Times reports, but had no further details about the nature of the threat.

The two officers shot at the man, Chavez said, as reported by the LA Times, but did not strike him.

The man, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

No one other than the driver was injured, the LA Times reports, but the condos were seriously damaged. Two of them have been declared uninhabitable, Chavez said.
