Discovery of Secret Bathroom Camera at Kid's Birthday Party Leads to Arrest

After a camera was discovered in a bathroom during a child’s birthday party, recording children under the age of 18 in various stages of undress, a man was arrested, Moorpark police said.

Sergio Salgado, 53, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of possessing child pornography among other charges after the July 2 birthday party. He is believed to have been a guest at the party.

A Moorpark homeowner, hosting a party for a young child in the 400 block of Ruth Avenue, invited many friends and family members which included young and teen-aged children.

It wasn’t until the end of the party aroudn 10 p.m. when homeowner was cleaning up that the small camera was found pointed strategically toward whoever may use the toilet.

The next day, the homeowner called the Ventura County Sheriff's Moorpark station and reported the camera.

Detectives found 14 different people, four of which were under 18 years old, on the hidden camera partially clothed as they used the restroom.

The camera belonged to Salgado, detectives determined.

Salgado was pulled over Wednesday and arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography, using a concealed camera to secretly record people, and burglary.

He was held on $50,000 bail in Ventura.
