An online auction of Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez's 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 will begin Friday.
Proceeds go to ThinkCure! and the Maryvale residential placement home for girls. The auction will be conducted from 11 a.m. through 11 a.m. Monday.
Porsche built fewer than 1,500 911s with the 3.6 liter turbocharged engine, making it one of the most sought-after Porsches produced since the 959. Ramirez's red coupe has grey leather interior. It has 34,569 miles on the odometer and recently was appraised for more than $58,000, Rawitch said.
Ramirez donated the car to ThinkCure!, which raises funds for research to cure cancer. He also requested that the proceeds be shared with an organization that specifically helps displaced children, according to Josh Rawitch, the team's vice president of communications.
