Big Jackpot Awaits Winner of Friday Night's Mega Millions Draw

IRVINE, Calif. -- A Mega Millions ticket bought at an Irvine 7-Eleven is worth $205,023 Saturday.

The ticket bought at 8693 Irvine Center Drive matched five of six winning numbers in Friday's drawing, but no one has claimed the prize yet, according to a lottery official.

No one won Friday's Mega Millions jackpot, which now stands $103 million.

Separately, someone who bought a Fantasy 5 ticket in Newhall that is worth $108,183 in the Aug. 20 drawing has yet to claim the prize, and the deadline is Tuesday, according to Bill Ainsworth of the lottery.

The Fantasy 5 ticket was bought at Mayer's Freeway Station, 25340 N. Chiquella Lane.

Tickets worth $600 or more must be claimed at a Lottery District Office in person or by mail. If mailed, the letter must be postmarked before the expiration date.

The California Lottery contributes at least 34 cents of every dollar that players spend on Lottery products to public education and returns more than 50 percent of sales to players in the form of prizes.

Since its reception in 1985, the Lottery has contributed nearly $21 billion to California schools out of total sales of nearly $56 billion. Retailers benefit, too, officials said, earning $3.6 billion in compensation since 1985.
