Bishop Montgomery Classes to Resume Tuesday After YouTube Threat

A minor is arrested on suspicion of posting a threat online that prompted the closure of BMHS, according to police

Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance is scheduled to reopen for classes Tuesday after a threat on YouTube resulted in a school closure, according to police.

A 16-year-old sophomore was arrested over the weekend, and as a precaution, the school was closed Monday, Sgt. Steven Jenkinson said.

"The point that we're at right now in the investigation, it appears that it's not a credible threat, but obviously all threats -- especially dealing with schools -- are taken very seriously and investigated fully," Jenkinson said.

The boy does not appear to have any affiliation with the hacker group "Anonymous," despite imagery in the video implying such a connection, said police.

"Bishop Montgomery shall fall. It shall decline. It shall never be the same. It will bounce, bounce, bounce," said a distorted voice in the YouTube video, which has since been taken down.

The student's name was not released.
