Brutal Restaurant Robber Sought

Police Tuesday released surveillance photos of a business suit-clad armed robbery suspect who held up a Pizza Hut in Glendale and shot the 18-year-old manager, who remains hospitalized but is expected to survive.

The robbery occurred at the restaurant at 1261 S. Central Ave. on Sunday at 11:10 a.m., said Glendale police Detective Petros Kmbikyan.

As the lone shift manager opened the eatery, the suspect came in and jumped over the counter.

He confronted the young woman in the back of the building and demanded money from the safe at gunpoint.

After getting some cash, he turned around, shot the victim in the shoulder and took her purse. Police say they believe he meant to kill her.

The suspect was described as a medium- to light-complexioned black man in his 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall.

He was wearing a white shirt, sunglasses, a brown suit, black gloves and navy blue cap and carrying a dark over-the-shoulder bag.

Anyone with information about the suspect's identity or whereabouts was asked to call Kmbikyan at (818) 548-3987.
