Bryan Stow in Stands for World Series Game 2

Giants fans had an added reason to cheer during Game 2 of the World Series at AT&T Park.

Injured Giants fan Bryan Stow was in the house.  Stow was seen in a wheel chair outside the park prior to Thursday night's game.

The Giants said Stow was in attendance as a guest of the team, adding that his family requested privacy.

"We are truly thrilled to have Bryan with us tonight at the World Series," Giants CEO Larry Baer told AP's Janie McCauley. "It's been a long road back. We're very grateful he has progressed and could join us."

Stow is the Giants fan who was attacked outside Dodger Stadium following the 2011 Opening Day game in LA. He suffered severe brain injuries and while he continues to make slow progress in his recovery, he is likely permanently disabled.

His family last posted on their blog on Oct. 9 and made no mention of a World Series invite. (Of course the Giants hadn't made the World Series yet. They were still playing the Reds.)

There was no pre-announcement that Stow would be at Thursday's game and Fox did not show any television footage of Stow watching his team during their broadcast.

The only public reference to Stow was a scoreboard announcement that read, "Welcome to Bryan Stow and his family." Fans cheered in response.

The Giants organization collectively, as well as individual players, have stayed in close contact with the family.

On Opening Day the team arranged for Bryan to make a virtual first pitch with the help of his son Tyler and relief pitcher Jeremy Affedlt.
