[UPDATE, 1:40 p.m., May 6, 2011] A hospital spokeswoman says doctors are holding off on operating on Giants fan Bryan Stow.
"There was discussion among the medical team of the probability of having brain surgery on Thursday or Friday due to slight fluid build up shown in a CT scan, however the consensus of the team as of yesterday was to hold off on this while other measures were taken (medicine)," said Rosa Saca of the LAC+USC Healthcare Network.
"Another measure is to begin slowly removing the anti-seizures medication that he has been on. These are not the same medications that he was on to keep him in a medically induced coma," wrote Saca in a statement released Friday.
Saca says Stow is being monitored closely "for signs of brain activity, including any seizures."

More grim news for Giants fan Bryan Stow.
A blog post on the Support4Bryan site says he will have surgery Thursday night or Friday morning. Stow remains in a coma and doctors say the surgery is necessary to drain fluid that has built up in his brain.

This is a sad turn after what we were told earlier this week, that Stow could soon be brought back to Northern California.
Police are still looking for the two men that attacked Stow on March 31 after the season opener at Dodger Stadium.
