Woman Accused of Beating Boyfriend to Death With Canned Food Dies

The woman had been behind bars since her June 2016 arrest

Authorities said Wednesday that a Lake Los Angeles woman, who was accused of killing her boyfriend by beating him on the head with cans of food, died while in custody awaiting trial on a murder charge.

Linda Clarene Jackson, 61, died of natural causes June 8, two days after being transferred to a hospital, according to coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

Jackson had been behind bars since her June 2016 arrest by Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies in connection with the death of her 59-year-old boyfriend, David Ruiz.

Prosecutors alleged that Jackson bludgeoned Ruiz in the head with canned foods at her home on June 16, 2015.
