Caught on Camera: DUI Suspect Nearly Runs Over Boyfriend

According to her boyfriend, who did not want to be identified, he was trying to block his girlfriend’s vehicle from leaving the driveway because he didn’t want his girlfriend driving while intoxicated.

Moments before an Orange County woman was arrested for DUI, she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend and almost ran over him with her car in an attack that was caught on camera.

The cellphone video allegedly shows Huntington Beach resident Laura Cox yelling and cursing at her boyfriend before pushing him and his motorized scooter over.

According to her boyfriend, who did not want to be identified, he was trying to block his girlfriend’s vehicle from leaving the driveway because he didn’t want his girlfriend driving while intoxicated.

Neighbor Sarah Oliver recorded the incident and posted it on YouTube Sunday with the title "Neighbors from hell." According to the description in Oliver’s video, assaults such as the one seen in the video are a “common weekly occurrence” between the couple.

"Usually if I hear screaming, I know it's her," Oliver said.

The video was posted on Sunday and as of Tuesday morning, has nearly 1.5 million views on YouTube.

Oliver said she hopes the video will bring peace and quiet to the neighborhood, and deter Cox from making such scenes again.

"I felt bad because he gets taken advantage of and she does attack him a lot, you know, and he doesn't deserve it," Oliver said.

The man in the video, however, defended his girlfriend of 20 years and told NBC4 that "there was no assault" and that the video looks much worse than it is.

"Do you see a mark on me? Do you see any marks on the scooter? If you actually really look at the video, she bumps me with her hip," the man said. "I think people have way to much idle time on their hands and too much to gossip about."

The man said that he is not planning to press any charges against Cox.
