Cesar Chavez March & Rally

Chicanos and labor supporters are gearing for this Sunday's 16th annual  "Cesar Chavez Pilgrimage and March for Justice" in the San Fernando Valley.  But it's going to be a little different this year.

The Cesar Chavez committee had to change the march route, breaking tradition, and will not go through the city of San Fernando this year.  The reason is simple...economic.  But the organizers are excited nonetheless.

The march starts at Brand Park in Mission Hills at 11:00 am.  Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis is the invited guest speaker.

The group will then head down Laurel Canyon Blvd and end up at Richie Valens Park in Pacoima.  A band will play; there's a health fair, entertainment booths, and of course, some great Mexican food.  Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is also expected to speak at the event.
