Coachella Advance Tickets Sell Out in Two Hours

Sale was expected to last one week, the same amount of time it took for advance sale tickets to sell out last year

Music fans didn’t take long to snag the first allotment of tickets for 2013’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Advanced passes for Coachella went on sale Thursday and were gone in about two hours, according to The Desert Sun.

The sale was expected to last one week, the same amount of time it took for advance sale tickets to sell out last year for the 2012 festival.

But fans who didn’t get a chance to snag some of the early tickets will still get a chance in January, when tickets are expected to go on sale as Goldenvoice, the festival’s promoter, announces Coachella’s 2013 lineup.

Goldenvoice sold 68,000 of its 160,000 passes for the two-weekend 2012 festival last June, and sold the remainder in less than three hours in January.

It is unclear how many advance tickets were sold on Thursday, but as of the late afternoon, Goldenvoice was only selling passes as part of camping deals at Lake Eldorado, according the report. Those deals range from $2,000 for a two-person teepee with general admission passes to $5,200 for a four-person tent with four VIP passes.

Coachella, which is held annually at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, set weekly attendance records for the 2012 festival with a daily average of 85,000 people, according to the Indio Police Department.

Coachella, which was held for two weeks was named best outdoor music festival in North America for eight of its first 12 years, according to Pollstar, an industry watchdog.
